Austin: [00:00:00] A terrible shooting in Jacksonville, Florida, this weekend, where a crazy nut supposedly overwhelmed with race hatred for black folks kills three African-Americans in a Dollar General store. It made. And thank goodness, by the way, that gunman was dispatched by area lawman responding to the incident. And he’s dead and gone and not a worry anymore.
But that story seemed to captivate headlines all over the place this weekend. And, you know, I understand that. Wow, three people getting shot at one time is is a terrible thing and being motivated by hate. But but just out of curiosity, is the motivation for any murder greater than another? I mean, well, take revenge and, you know, heat of the moment, killings aside, if people are being killed, shot and killed, is is hatred over their race or gender or whatever happens to be some type of special death compared to somebody just getting robbed for money?
I give you a great for instance, in Chicago this past weekend, think of the multiple killings or multiple shootings, rather, that occurred every single day this weekend. For instance, Friday, get this, two women were shot at one time at Guaranteed Rate Field during the White Sox game. At 7:25 the same evening, two more women shot at the G Spot on Armor Square. A little bit later, a male and a female shot in Garfield Park. Saturday same time shootings Gage Park, male and female at 5:40 a.m. In Garfield Park, two males shot 3 p.m.. Unbelievable. Sunday three individuals shot at Little Village 3:10 a.m. all at once. Bang, bang, bang.
Any mention of those in the news? No. Any mention of the fact that all of these multiple shootings occurred in Chicago over the weekend? By the way, no arrests that we know of have been made. Isn’t that nuts? These things are going on all over the country. But man, throw in the race element and it gets headlines. Very strange. Trust me, I’ve checked the tombstones at Westover when you’re killed by a race versus killed by an armed robber versus killed by a rapist. It’s the same level with dead. One’s no worse than the other. Trust me, I looked. And that’s the comment I’m Austin Rhodes AM 580/95.1 FM News Talk WGAC. [00:00:00][0.0]
