Two Arrested in Connection with Removal of Human Remains in Windsor
Two men are in custody in Aiken County in connection with remains that were found recently in a shallow grave.
The human remains were found Friday near the 300 block of Wendy Lane in Windsor, not far from Aiken State Park.
Officials are still awaiting testing results to positively identify the remains, but officials have yet to find 40-year-old John Belote, who was reported missing three weeks ago.
Aiken County authorities just charged 30-year-old Thomas Guinn and 51-year-old Donald Britton, both of Windsor, with Destruction, Desecration or Removal of Human Remains in connection with those found last week in Windsor.
Belote’s daughter told investigators she hasn’t seen or spoken to her father since June 28, the day he said he was going to confront Britton following an argument. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office still lists Belote as a missing person.
Belote is no stranger to law enforcement. He’s been arrested numerous times over the years for domestic violence, violating an order of protection, and attempting a lewd act on a child. Belote is listed on the sex offender registry
