Another Richmond County Deputy Arrested and Terminated This Week
For the second time this week, a Richmond County deputy has been terminated following his arrest.
One day after Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree held a news conference to announce circumstances surrounding the arrest of former deputy Arrington Mursier comes word that Deputy Christopher Masters was arrested today for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile.
Masters had been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2007, assigned to the Courthouse at the Augusta Judicial Center.
The Criminal Investigation Division at the Sheriff’s Office began a separate investigation into the allegations against Masters. “As a result of the investigation, it was determined that probable cause existed to charge Christopher Masters with Sexual Exploitation of Children and Violation of Oath by Public Officer,” according to a news release.
Masters was arrested today and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. He resigned in lieu of termination today.
Mursier was charged earlier this week with bringing contraband to an inmate at the Detention Center. He and the inmate face multiple charges. Mursier was also terminated.
