A Greenwood, South Carolina teen has been taken into custody and charged with the death of 19-year-old Amari Williams of Aiken on May 29.
Williams was found shot to death in a vehicle parked in the area of Redd Street Park, near the intersection of Redd Street and Tennessee Avenue. Authorities say he was shot in the head. On Tuesday, Aiken Public Safety officials say 19-year-old Jaden Mitchell of Greenwood was taken into custody and charged with Williams’ murder.
Williams’ fiancee Cesilie Weatherford and a juvenile, both passengers in the vehicle, escaped serious injury when shots were fired at the car from a passing vehicle.
In addition to a murder charge, Mitchell was also charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and three counts of Possession of a Weapon during the commission of a Violent Crime.
Mitchell is being held without bond in the Aiken County Detention Center.
