Angry Husband Charged with Assaulting Man Who Was Texting His Wife
A man was suddenly attacked while pumping gas at a convenience store in Waynesboro last week. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says it wasn’t a random act of violence. They say 42-year-old Robert McCafferty approached the man at The Corner Store in the 600 block of West Sixth Street, reportedly angry that the man had exchanged text messages with his wife.
Witnesses said McCafferty allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck, forced him to the ground and began beating him.
McCafferty was taken into custody earlier this week and was charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery. The victim was not seriously hurt.
