Deadly House Fire in McDuffie County Claims Two Lives
Martinez Home Heavily Damaged by Fire this Afternoon
A house fire in McDuffie County last night has claimed two lives. Firefighters were called to a home on Gordon Street in Thomson just before 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Coroner Paul Johnson said 84-year-old Lloyd Shank and his 80-year-old wife, Shirley Shank, died as a result of the fire. Autopsies will be performed to determine the cause of their deaths.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
