Former Grovetown Mayor Dennis Trudeau Dies
Former Grovetown Mayor Dennis Trudeau died Monday at the age of 97. Trudeau served as Grovetown’s mayor from 1988 to 2011.
Trudeau, who was born in 1925, served in the Canadian Army during World War II, where he participated in D-Day and stormed the beaches of Normandy.
The city’s Facebook page posted a tribute to Trudeau today, adding that he was honored for his service both in the United States and abroad, including a ceremony held in Normandy in 2019 and one at City Hall in Grovetown in 2021, where he was presented the French Legion of Honor.
Grovetown Mayor Gary Jones said, “Mayor Trudeau was instrumental in paving the way to make Grovetown what it is today.”
Funeral arrangements for Trudeau have not been announced yet.
