Aiken Man Arrested for Shooting and Killing Wife
Aiken Man in Custody Charged with Wife's Murder Tuesday in Houndslake Subdivision
An Aiken woman was shot and killed in her home Tuesday and authorities say they have charged her husband with the shooting.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables says 70-year-old Ruth Ann Whitaker was shot to death at their home in the 1400 block of Woodbine Road in the Houndslake subdivision. An autopsy will be performed in Newberry.
Her husband, 70-year-old Richard Whitaker, has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime in connection with her death.
Investigators have not released a motive for the crime yet.
