Family Dollar Shooting Under Investigation: Victim Has Died
A shooting at a Family Dollar store in Augusta this afternoon is under investigation, and now authorities say the victim has died.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was called to a report of a shooting at the store at 825 Laney Walker Boulevard at 3:40 p.m.

“Upon arrival, Deputies learned that the male victim, who had been shot at least one time, was transported to the hospital by private vehicle,” according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen was called to Piedmont Augusta Hospital in reference to the shooting. Bowen said he pronounced 19-year-old Damien Patrick dead when he arrived.
Investigators haven’t released any other information about the shooting yet.
