Bicyclist Killed And Identified: Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested
A bicyclist was killed Monday evening in Richmond County by a driver who left the scene of the accident. The driver is now in custody.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded Monday at 5:38 p.m. to a report of an accident involving a pedestrian on Murphey Road at Milledgeville Road.
Authorities said a person riding a bicycle was hit at that location by a vehicle that left the scene.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said 47-year-old Malcolm Leonard Kelly, who was homeless, died at the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Bicyclist Killed Led To An Arrest Monday Night
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says an arrest was made Monday night in connection with the hit-and-run that left the bicyclist dead.
Investigators say Anthony Way was taken into custody around 9:10 pm in connection with Kelly’s death.
Way has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle (Felony) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Felony).
