Curfew Enacted After Hurricane Helene Has Been Lifted In Richmond County
The curfew enacted after Hurricane Helene caused massive destruction in the Augusta area September 27 has been lifted.
During Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson’s daily update on the city’s recovery, he announced Wednesday that the 10 pm to 7 am daily curfew is no longer in place.
Johnson said more traffic signals are operational again, but asked that residents still avoid being on the roads at night if at all possible.
Johnson also reminded drivers to treat all intersections without a working traffic signal as a four-way stop. He also warned drivers to be cautious of debris that could still be in the roadways.
Curfew Enacted in Other Areas of the CSRA after Helene
Aiken, Columbia, Edgefield and Saluda counties were among other areas enacting a curfew after the hurricane due to downed trees, power lines and widespread power outages.
Governor Kemp to Give Update on Agriculture Damage Around Georgia
Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp will join Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper as well as state and local leaders to provide an update on agricultural damages around the state that were the result of Hurricane Helene.
Kemp said he will call for needed action to help Georgia farmers impacted by the storm.
