Fake Social Media Post About Columbia County Schools Start Date Circulating Today

A fake social media post about when the school year is starting in Columbia County is circulating, and school district officials are clearing up any confusion about the matter.

The new school year begins in Columbia County Monday, August 5, so don’t fall for any fake posts about the start date changing, due to the approaching bad weather.

Fake Social Media Post Prompts Statement from the Columbia County School District

“The Columbia County School District is aware of a fake image circulating on social media containing false information regarding school closures. The information in the image is false. In the event of school closures parents will be notified directly and the information posted on our district and school websites.”

The Fake Image Says:

“Due to hurricane Debby passing through the area Monday, August 5, 2024 Columbia County schools will be closed. The 2024 school year will begin on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.”

Again, this is false information.

School begins Monday, August 5 in the Columbia County School District.
