CSRA College Night In September Will Have A New Location
CSRA College Night gives area high school students a chance to learn more about colleges and universities, scholarship opportunities, financial aid and much more, all under one roof.
For years, it’s been held at the James Brown Arena every September, but organizers of the event had to find a new location now that the arena is closed for good, making way for a new facility that will be built at the same site.
CSRA College Night will be held Thursday, September 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Augusta Convention Center on 10th Street. The free event has been held annually for over 30 years.
CSRA College Night Highlights
- High school students and their parents can get more information about educational opportunities, admission requirements and tuition
- Attend seminars about HOPE and LIFE scholarships, South Carolina and Georgia financial aid information, SRS apprenticeships and financial literacy.
- Visit a counseling center to seek advice about the college application process from high school advisors and admissions professionals
- Visit the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Career Exploration area to “card sort” career interest and validate choice
- High school seniors may register in person at CSRA College Night to participate in a drawing for a $1,000 scholarship. To qualify, a high school senior must graduate with a GPA equal or above 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
“Well over $400,000 in scholarship funding has been offered to the tens of thousands of students who have attended College Night since 1993. The generosity of our sponsors and hundreds of SRS volunteers continues to make this event successful year after year,” said Cindy Hewitt, SRNS Education Outreach Specialist.
Students will be able to talk to recruiters from over 100 colleges and universities. Juniors and seniors can also register to win scholarships totaling $15,000.
CSRA College Night is sponsored, in part, by the U.S. Department of Energy-Savannah River Operations Office, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, SRP Federal Credit Union and the Aiken County Public School District.
