FreshTake Finally Set To Open Soon
FreshTake is getting the finishing touches this week on the 42,000 square foot grocery store that’s finally opening January 20 in the former Whole Foods location at I-20 and Washington Road.
Owner Jackson Mitchell says it’s a brand-new grocery store concept that blends convenience, dining and recreation to the community.
“This store represents the culmination of my career and a deep love for the grocery business. Our goal is to create a space that not only offers top-quality groceries but also becomes a hub for the community, where people can come together to enjoy great food, entertainment and convenience,” said Mitchell.
FreshTake Not Your Typical Grocery Store
Shoppers will not only enjoy a traditional grocery experience, but there’s also a sushi bar, pizza and pasta station, a made-to-order sandwich bar, full-service hot food bar, a walk-up barbecue smokehouse, beer and wine bar, a beer cave known as the Ice Box, fresh-squeezed juice and smoothie bar, and a bakery.
Mitchell encourages shoppers to enjoy the store’s 5-hole putting green or just unwind by the fire pit. There are two outdoor balconies, with a spacious mezzanine seating area above the in-store cafe. “Shoppers can relax and catch up on their favorite sports on 13 large televisions while savoring a selection of 10 tap beers, wine, made-to-order sushi and bar food items.”
Mitchell said FreshTake will feature in-store butchers and a dedicated section for meat categorized into prime, fresh, frozen, and packaged selections. Customers will be able to choose the “grill while you shop” option. They simply select their choice of fresh meat and have it prepared by in-store chefs while they shop. Free steaming services will also be available in the fresh seafood department.
That’s still not all.
In addition to bulk food and health and beauty items, there’s also a full-service pharmacy.
For those who don’t feel like venturing to the store, Instacart and delivery services will be available. FreshTake will also provide prepared foods delivery.
“For special occasions and gatherings, our catering services will make entertaining a breeze with a delectable selection of culinary delights,” said Mitchell.
FreshTake, which was supposed to have opened in August, has had a series of setbacks in getting the construction finished, including damage from Hurricane Helene in late September.
The grand opening is Monday, January 20. FreshTake is creating 130 jobs for the Augusta area.
