Wilkes County Man Charged With Triple Murder: Victims Identified
A Wilkes County man who was wanted for questioning in the deaths of three people found in a home Thursday in Tignall is now in custody charged with their murders.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Wilkes County deputies were first called to a report of an injured woman at a home in the 900 block of Mallorysville Road around 8:30 am. Thursday.
The victim told deputies she was injured at another home down the street.
During a search of that home, three bodies were found.
Wilkes County Man Taken Into Custody Friday
On Thursday afternoon, the GBI announced they were looking for 56-year-old Shannon Box in connection with the woman’s injuries. They said he was wanted on one count of Aggravated Assault. He was also wanted for questioning in connection with the three deaths.
The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office got a tip Friday that Box was spotted on Danburg Road in Tignall. He was initially taken into custody and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. Late Friday, the GBI added three counts of Murder and three counts of Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Crime to the list.
Victims Identified
The Wilkes County Coroner’s Office released the names of the murder victims:
- Chauncey Box, 55, of Tignall
- Brenda Lipscomb, 67, of Tignall
- Michael Schmidt, 55, of Tignall
The name of the female victim who is undergoing treatment is not being released.
