McDuffie County School Officials Announce Students Will Return to School This Week
McDuffie County School System officials announced Monday that all district facilities have power, so students, teachers and staff are returning to school this week.
McDuffie County School System employees will return to work Tuesday, October 8. Students will return to the classroom on Wednesday, October 9.
McDuffie County students will follow the same schedule this week and next as the Columbia County School District.
That means it’s a two-day school week for students, and three days for teachers.
McDuffie County School Students Return Wednesday
Students in McDuffie County will have school Wednesday and Thursday this week. Students will not attend school on Friday, since that was a previously scheduled professional learning day for faculty and staff.
Students and employees will be out of school on Monday, October 14, for Columbus Day.
“The McDuffie County School System is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for families and employees while navigating this challenging situation. The district remains focused on providing the best educational experience for all McDuffie County students,” according to a news release from the McDuffie County School System.

- October 7: Lincoln County; Warren County; Augusta University; Augusta Tech; Paine College; USC Aiken; Augusta Prep
- October 9: Columbia County students will attend school October 9 and 10. There is no school on Friday, October 11, since it’s a District Professional Learning Day. Students and employees are out of school Monday, October 14, for Columbus Day
- October 14: Aiken and Edgefield County students return after Fall Break
- October 16: Richmond County students return
- October 21: Burke County students return
