The Aiken Department of Public Safety says a suspect has been identified in the November 26 shooting in the parking lot at Walmart on Whiskey Road in Aiken.

Witnesses told investigators several people were involved in a fight that resulted in shots being fired at a vehicle.  Those involved in altercation fled from the scene before police arrived.  Investigators learned later that one person went to Aiken Regional Medical Centers for treatment of a gunshot wound.  They say the victim was believed to have been involved in the fight.

Authorities have not identified the victim, but today announced that arrest warrants have been obtained for 22-year-old Brandon Perry Buckmon of Barnwell, South Carolina.

Suspect in Custody on Unrelated Charges

Buckmon is currently incarcerated in Orangeburg County on unrelated charges.  He'll be transported to Aiken and formally charged with Discharging a Firearm into a vehicle, aircraft, etc. While Occupied in connection with the Walmart shooting.

Aiken Public Safety officials say the shooting remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety was assisted with the investigation by the Aiken County Sheriff's Office, Williston Police Department and the State Law Enforcement Division.
