A North Augusta man was killed in a single vehicle accident Saturday night in Aiken County. Coroner Darryl Ables has released the accident victim's identity.

He said 39-year-old Jesus Trinidad-Rosales of North Augusta was identified as the victim of the crash.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the wreck just before 8:00 pm in the 900 block of Ascauga Lake Road near Chalk Bed Road.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said Trinidad-Rosales was behind the wheel of a 2010 Nissan Maxima that was headed north on Ascauga Lake Road when he lost control of the car, it veered off the right side of the road, hit a mailbox, then slammed into a tree.

North Augusta Man's Identity Was Released Today

The driver's name was withheld until this morning, pending notification of next-of-kin.

Ables said Trinidad-Rosales died at the scene as a result of blunt force injuries.

The Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the cause of the crash.

Toxicology analysis is pending.
