A weekend shooting at a motorcycle club event in Augusta over the weekend left two dead and three others injured.
It happened Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Sand Bar Berry Road near East Boundary. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said 51-year-old Germayne Farrell of Daytona Beach, Florida and 30-year-old Keith Coates of Valdosta were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said a group had gathered for a motorcycle event near the downtown area when a verbal altercation quickly turned into a deadly shooting.
A total of 12 people have been charged in connection with the incident. Of the 10 people charged so far with murder in connection with the shooting, only 44-year-old Larry Ross is from Augusta.
Others charged include: 31-year-old James Bryant of Fayetteville, NC; 39-year-old Freddie Crosson of St. Mary’s, GA; 38-year-old Tyson Harper of Lumberton, NC; 26-year-old McKayla Rickett of Kingsland, GA; 30-year-old Cory Sapp of Kingsland, GA; 30-year-old Jessica Sapp of Kingsland, GA; 42-year-old Larry Sutton of Fayetteville, NC; Jonathan Keaton of St. Mary’s, GA; Deja Dotson of St. Mary’s, GA; Matthew Willis of St. Mary’s, GA; and Kenneth Taylor of Boynton Beach, Florida.
More information is expected to be released later today during a news conference at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
