UPDATE: WILLIAM KNIGHT CAPTURED TONIGHT IN WASINGTON COUNTY
Washington County and other nearby agencies have joined in the search for an inmate who escaped from the Baldwin County State Prison in Hardwick, Georgia yesterday.
William Knight escaped from the facility during a work detail late Monday afternoon and the search for him continues.
Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran said Knight abandoned the vehicle he was driving in the area of the trussle in Oconee and fled on foot. He’s white, 6’3″ and 15 pounds. Knight is considered dangerous, but is not known to be armed. Knight has been serving time for involuntary manslaughter and possession of methamphetamine since 2017.
Earlier this morning, Washington County officials said Knight was last known to be in the area of Indian Trail Road and Highway 272.
