Grovetown Collecting Fans for Elderly
The City of Grovetown is collecting fans for the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions who don’t have a way to cool off.
Those 65 and over, children younger than two and those with chronic diseases or mental illness have a greater chance of suffering from a heat-related illness, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
With the lack of cooling centers in the area due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the City of Grovetown is collecting fans for those who need a way to stay cool.
Gently used or new fans are being accepted at City Hall at 103 Old Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
They can be dropped off at the Help and Information Desk in the lobby.
