Atlanta Mayor to Mandate Face Masks
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced today she will sign an order requiring the use of face masks in the city. That goes against the order Governor Brian Kemp set forth recently encouraging, but not mandating, the use of face coverings in public.
“Atlanta is going to do it today because the fact of the matter is that COVID-19 is wreaking havoc on our city, specifically black and brown communities with higher death rates, ” Bottoms said. She announced her mandate today, two days after she received word she had tested positive for the virus.
The number of coronavirus cases in the state passed the 100,000 mark on Tuesday.
