SC Governor Won’t Ease Some Restrictions if Virus Numbers Don’t Stop Increasing
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster issued a stern warning this afternoon as Covid-19 cases continue to rise in record numbers. Health officials announced today that the state saw an increase of 1,700 new virus cases on Tuesday, and another 1,500 so far today.
During a news conference Wednesday, McMaster said it is imperative people continue to wear masks in public and adhere to social distancing guidelines to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
McMaster warned that he will not remove restrictions on large gatherings if cases continue to rise across the state. “If we continue to see this kind of danger going across our state, I will have no choice, we will have no choice but to keep these restrictions on crowds and gatherings in place, and that means this fall will not be like other falls,” McMaster said. “We will not be able to have college football, we will not be able to have high school football, we won’t be able to have those kinds of sports, and we won’t be able to have concerts, performing arts, we just won’t be able to do it.”
