Lakeside Athletic Director Resigns
The Columbia County School District has accepted the resignation of Lakeside High School Athletic Director Jody Hilley, effective immediately.
In a statement released today:
“The district began an investigation after receiving information Sunday, June 21, 2020, about a racially inflammatory Facebook post made by Mr. Hilley. The posting of such messages is unacceptable and inappropriate, especially for an educator.
The Columbia County School District is committed to providing its students and staff with a safe, positive educational environment. To this end, we hold our faculty and staff to the highest standards of behavior and will not accept conduct that detracts from this mission.
Mary Liz is the News Director and Co-Host of Augusta’s Morning News on WGAC. She spent 11 years as a News Director at an Indiana Radio Station. She has also worked as a former Police and Courts Reporter for The Republic Newspaper and Assistant Marketing Director of Merchants National Bank in Indianapolis. Mary Liz focuses most on local breaking news stories, feature stories on upcoming events, or community-service related organizations and the people who serve them. She has been with WGAC since 1995.
