Disappointing news for University of South Carolina graduating seniors.
University President Bob Caslen announced Tuesday that virtual commencement ceremonies will be held this summer, due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Caslen said he knows students will be disappointed, but the decision was made after consulting with public health and venue professionals.
In March, university officials had announced that in-person commencement would be postponed until August due to the pandemic. Those plans have now been scrapped and virtual ceremonies will be held instead. Officials say plans will be announced later.
