Road Construction Work to be Halted for Holiday Weekend
If you’re doing some traveling over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, you won’t have to deal with construction-related lane closures in Georgia or South Carolina.
Department of Transportation officials in both states say they are suspending work starting early Friday through 5:00 a.m. Tuesday on interstate highways and on state routes that serve tourist and recreation centers.
Welcome centers in Georgia are not open, but officials say rest areas and restrooms will be.
In South Carolina, rest areas and bathrooms are open and are cleaned and disinfected every 30 minutes through 11 p.m. nightly.
