USC To Resume Classes on Campus in August
University of South Carolina officials announced today that classes will resume on campus in mid-August. University President Bob Caslen said the decision was made based on the recommendation of public health and academic officials. He said “This decision has not been made lightly. It is informed by the science of our excellent epidemiologists and health care specialists in our planning group, as well as the CDC and SC DHEC.”
Caslen also said feedback from students indicated many said they would “postpone or discontinue” their education if remote learning continued into the fall semester.
Students, families, faculty and staff are invited to participate in a virtual town hall event this evening at 6 p.m. for more information about plans to reopen.
