Augusta Shooting Victim Has Died
An Augusta shooting victim has died, now turning his death into a homicide investigation.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says 73-year-old Larry Drayton of Augusta was shot in the 1900 block of Gay Drive on August 9.
Augusta Shooting Victim Died at Nursing Facility
Drayton was initially taken to Wellstar MCG, then transferred to Pruitt Healthcare Nursing Facility in Augusta.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says Drayton died there Monday, August 26.
An autopsy has been performed, but results have not been made available yet.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office did not release any information at the time of the shooting, and no information has been released since Drayton’s death.
It’s not known if there are any suspects in the case.
