Disaster declarations were approved for Georgia and South Carolina this week to supplement recovery efforts in areas hardest hit last week by Hurricane Helene, including some areas in the CSRA.

The President's action makes federal funding available in Georgia to affected individuals in Columbia, Richmond, Jefferson, Appling, Brooks, Coffee, Liberty, Lowndes, Pierce, Tattnall and Toombs counties.

In South Carolina, federal funding will be available to those affected in Aiken, Barnwell, Newberry, Saluda, Anderson, Bamberg, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Lexington, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg counties.

Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, lost-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.

Disaster Declarations Provide Federal Funds

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures in Georgia and South Carolina.

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in designated areas can begin applying for assistance by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362 or by using the FEMA App.
