Police surrounded a home in the 400 block of Carpenterville Road in North Augusta to serve a warrant this morning.

As it turned out, the man holed up inside was 34-year-old Daniel Gabriel Harmon, who had recently been reported missing along with his girlfriend, 30-year-old Jamilla Shanae' Smith.  Their families told authorities the last time they had heard from them was Saturday, December 2.

In issuing the missing and endangered persons report Monday night, the Aiken County Sheriff's Office said Harmon and Smith have a history of domestic violence incidents.  Investigators said they also learned Harmon had made some threats of self-harm.

Investigators say they were following up on a lead this morning that took them to the home on Carpentersville Road.

SWAT Team Assisted in Today's Arrest

"Due to some other information, we decided to call in our SWAT Team to assist us in making contact at the home where Harmon was the sole occupant of the residence," said Captain Eric Abdullah.

Harmon was taken into custody without incident for an outstanding warrant of 2nd Degree Domestic Violence.  He was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

As of late this morning, Smith was still reported missing.
