Richmond County authorities are looking for a man who is wanted for allegedly assaulting and attempting to kidnap a man from the parking lot of the Budgetel Inn and Suites at 954 5th Street on August 4.

The victim, identified as Ronnie Miller, told investigators a drug dealer he knows as "professor" found him at the hotel to collect $300.

Miller said the suspect, who has since been identified as 31-year-old Jerrell Haynes, pulled out a black handgun, grabbed Miller by the shirt and tried to drag him into his vehicle to collect the money.

He added that he tried to escape, but was pushed into a corner. Then hit in the head with Haynes' gun.  Miller said he finally managed to get away after the two struggled.

Investigators said they reviewed video surveillance and saw Haynes holding a black handgun as he was getting into a silver SUV driven by an unknown person that left the scene.

Haynes is black, 5'10" and weighs 155 pounds.  He has a beard and was wearing a green shirt and either green or gray pants.  He should be considered armed and dangerous.  Haynes has active warrants through the Richmond County Sheriff's Office in reference to this incident.
