Richmond County Deputy Arrested and Terminated
A Richmond County Deputy was fired today, one day after he was charged with bringing contraband into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
A news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says an investigation began after authorities received information that Deputy Demondre Mahoney had allegedly brought contraband into the Detention Center.
“As a result of the investigation, Investigators determined that probable cause existed to charge Deputy Mahoney with Giving Convicts Articles Without Consent of Warden and Violation of Oath by Public Officer,” according to the news release.
Mahoney was hired by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on January 9, 2021 and was assigned to Road Patrol. He was terminated this morning.
Authorities say no other information will be released.
