The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has announced the unexpected death this morning of longtime Chaplain Dennis Dickey. Authorities say he passed away at his home today.
Sheriff Alfonzo Williams said Dickey frequently rode with deputies, listened to their needs and routinely checked on employees in the building.
“He helped them to have greater expressions of thought and emotions related to both personal and professional experiences of trauma and grief,” said Sheriff Alfonzo Williams. He added that Dickey always offered words of wisdom and hope.
“May God’s grace and mercy abound and keep us all during this period of bereavement,” said Williams.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community to keep his wife, Wendye Dickey, and his family in your prayers.
