“Survivor” winner to give away $1 million!
Season 43 winner Mike Gabler is doing a very good thing. He announced on Wednesday night’s show, after winning the grand prize that he was going to go forward with his plan to donate his winnings to veterans.
Talking to host Jeff Probst, Gabler said “There are people that need the money more.” “And I’m going to donate the entire prize in my father’s name, Robert Gabler, who was Green Beret – to veterans in need, recovering from psychiatric problems, PTSD and curb the suicide epidemic.”
He went to say that he didn’t grow up wealthy, but that he couldn’t take the money in good conscience. Saying he realized something through the whole “Survivor” experience, I am rich at home. I have an amazing life at home. I have an amazing family. I have amazing friends. I need to be a better husband, I need to be a better father, I need to be a better brother, I need to be a better son.
Gabler, at 53 is the second oldest winner in the history of the show. Bob Crowley, who competed in the 17th season is the oldest winner at 57.
