Condition of Augusta Prep Golf Coach Improving
Augusta Prep’s golf coach continues to heal following a two-vehicle crash last month in Jones County that left him critically injured.
According to an update this morning from the school, Coach Chuck Mason is now off the ventilator and breathing on his own following the March 22 crash involving the school’s bus transporting the golf team and a flatbed truck carrying concrete blocks.
All four members of the golf team and the bus driver were treated for minor injuries, but Mason has required several surgeries since the wreck. Augusta Prep officials says doctors are now encouraged by Mason’s ability to begin interacting with those around him.
Mason is said to be making good progress, but is expected to have lengthy recovery process ahead of him.
