Shooting at Veterans Nursing Home
One Dead, Active Shooter on the Loose
One person was shot and killed late this morning at the Georgia War Veterans nursing home on 15th Street in Augusta’s medical district and the shooter is still on the loose.
Richmond County investigators say they got the call just after 11 a.m. The victim was found in the nursing home parking lot.
The suspect is black and is believed to have left the scene in a white SUV. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Area businesses and medical facilities, as well as nearby Paine College, are on lockdown at this hour.
Update: The deceased has been identified as female.
