2024 Election Day – Information On How And When You Can Vote
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The current presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump has been divisive, and that means every vote will be carefully counted. Below are important details on how and when you can vote, registration deadlines, early voting deadlines, and polling location information.
Voter Registration Deadlines
Only registered voters may vote in the upcoming election. Those not currently registered or are unsure of registration status can find out much of that information online.
Georgia Residents:
For Georgia residents, eligibility includes being a citizen of the United States and a legal resident of the county. To register, you must be at least 17 1/2 years of age, but 18 years of age to vote. Additional requirements include not having a felony conviction involving moral turpitude and not having been found mentally incompetent by a judge.
Voter registration status can be found on the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page.
Voter registration applications can be submitted online here. They can also be sent by mail with the postage-paid voter registration application found here.
The current voter registration deadline in Georgia: mail must be postmarked by October 7th and in-person registration at your local election office must be done by close of business on October 7th. Online registration is also available through October 7th.
South Carolina Residents:
Eligibility in South Carolina is similar to Georgia, with the addition of not being confined in any public prison resulting from a conviction of a crime and having never been convicted of a felony or offense against election laws. Those previously convicted must have served the entire sentence, including probation or parole, or have received a pardon for the conviction.
