Burke County Couple Charged with Child Molestation
A Burke County couple was arrested May 23 for alleged incidents involving a minor.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Phillip Buckner and 36-year-old Jacoba Buckner, both of Live Oak Road, were taken into custody at 1:30 pm on multiple charges.

- Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to Minors
Both are being held at the Burke County Detention Center.
A news release from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
North Augusta Teacher in Custody on Child Porn Charges
The Burke County couple was arrested one day after a teacher was taken into custody in Aiken County.
A North Augusta teacher was arrested May 22 on five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor in the 2nd Degree.
Charles Wilson, who was recently named Teacher-of-the-Year at North Augusta High School, was arrested after authorities said they found child pornography on his computer at his home on Kemper Downs Drive in Aiken.
Investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force with the Aiken Department of Public Safety made the arrest after a Investigators got CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The five counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor are felony charges, punishable by up to 10 years in prison on each count.
This was Wilson’s first year teaching Social Studies at North Augusta High School. He was previously employed as a pastor at Langley First Baptist Church until May, 2023. Prior to that, he served as a pastor at Oakwood Baptist Church in Lexington.
After Wilson’s arrest Wednesday, he was immediately placed on administrative leave from the Aiken County School District. Officials also removed any reference to him as a teacher in the school district online, as well as all mentions about his recent Teacher-of-the-Year award.
