Burke County Fatality Leaves Authorities Looking for Information
A Burke County fatality late Wednesday night claimed the life of a Georgia man on River Road.
The Burke County fatality involved 27-year-old Trevor James Michael Prevatt of Temple, Georgia. He lost control of his vehicle in the 500 block of River Road at 10:50 pm, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Prevatt’s vehicle veered out of control causing it to leave the road on the north shoulder and hit a dirt embankment. The vehicle overturned multiple times, ejecting Prevatt.
Prevatt was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is Looking for Information
“The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information regarding the accident to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry. Any individuals who may have witnessed the incident or have relevant information should contact the Burke County Sheriff’s Office,” according to Colonel Jimmy Wylds.

Pedestrian Fatality in Richmond County also Under Investigation
A pedestrian fatality in south Augusta Wednesday afternoon is being investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
A female was hit by a vehicle in the 3500 block of Windsor Spring Road.
The woman, whose identity has not been released yet, died at Wellstar MCG at 9:30 pm Wednesday.
Aiken County Sees Increase in Fatalities
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office says there has been an increase in the number of fatal accidents there since the beginning of 2024.
Coroner Darryl Ables says the county logged three fatal accidents within a week from late February into early March.
On February 26, an electric scooter collided with a truck on Ascauga Lake Road, killing 38-year-old Oscar King.
On February 27, 21-year-old Ramsey Byers was killed when her car veered off the road and struck a tree on Howlandville Road.
On March 1, 31-year-old Isaiah Johnson was killed when an ambulance and car collided on Hitchcock Parkway. Five others involved in the wreck were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
