Best Of The Augusta Golf Show Conversations; Lee Trevino
So, about six years ago, Lisa and I made our first trip to The Greenbrier in West Virginia. It’s a lovely resort in the mountains. Great old hotel, and three wonderful golf courses. At the time, Lee Trevino was the “Host Professional”. He was not the first for the Greenbrier. The tradition began with Sam Snead. Snead was there for many years. Tom Watson was also at one time the “host”. So was Nick Faldo. I believe Lee was the last.
Well, I found him in the men’s locker room and we sat and had a wonderful conversation for more than an hour. You should know, Lee is not always the outgoing “Merry Mex”. He has a serious side. He’s concerned about many things in the game and one of the real joys of that afternoon was having a serious conversation with him, only to be interrupted by players, surprised to see him so accessible. I watched in awe, he could turn it on and off.
Here’s a couple of the photos from that afternoon
After that, Lee graciously agreed to come on the show. I could ask anything, Here’s my conversation with Lee Trevino
