Woman’s Body in Found in Pharmacy Parking Lot in Augusta, Arrest Made
A woman’s body was found in a vehicle last week in a CVS parking lot in south Augusta and a man is in custody on charges connected to her death.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said the woman was pronounced dead at 11:45 pm May 29 in the pharmacy parking lot at Windsor Spring Road and Meadowbrook Drive.
The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Connie McHan of the 2200 block of Nellie Drive.
Bowen said McHan was sitting in the vehicle when she was found. The cause of her death is said to be suspicious.
An autopsy has been scheduled, according to Bowen.
Man in Custody on Charges Connected to McHan’s Death
One day after McHan’s body was found in the CVS parking lot, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office arrested 46-year-old Marcus Salmond of Augusta. He was charged with Concealing Death and Tampering with Evidence in connection with McHan’s death.
The warrant for Salmond’s arrest says he knowingly concealed McHan’s death by moving her body to “hinder discovery of whether or not such person was unlawfully killed.” He’s also accused of taking McHan’s cell phone from the scene and hiding it.
