Store Manager and Two Others Involved in Theft at Dollar General in Separate Incident
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who is wanted for Theft by Taking in connection with the theft of cash and merchandise from the Dollar General store where he worked on Highway 88 in Blythe.
The store’s district manager told investigators he received an alert through the company’s monitoring system that a cash deposit was missing.
“District Manager Richard Filgrove stated his investigation revealed that Store Manager Pamela Prather, Assistant Store Manager Dayton Tritt, and a store employee were all involved in the theft of cash and store merchandise,” according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
Filgrove said an investigation revealed that cash deposits for 12/24/23 through 12/28/23 were prepared by both Prather and Tritt, adding that store security footage shows the deposits being placed underneath Prather and Tritt’s clothing and taken out of the store.
“Filgrove stated that security footage shows both Tritt and the employee taking store merchandise out the back door of the store via use of a cart and a trash bag,” according to the report. He added that video footage also shows Tritt allegedly conducting false refund transactions and pocketing the money.
Filgrove said he tried to contact Prather, Tritt and the employee. Only the employee answered the call and came to the store as requested.
“He admitted to taking part in the theft of store merchandise alongside Tritt. He provided a written statement confessing to taking merchandise from the store,” according to the report.
The employee was fired, but Filgrove said he wouldn’t press charges because of the confession.
Meanwhile, Richmond County authorities are still searching for Tritt.
