Meet Hershey.

Hershey is 9 years old and can’t catch a break.  She first came to the Aiken County Animal Shelter 6 years ago, after being recused from neglect.  She was returned this week when her owner confessed that she could no longer deal with Hershey’s anxiety or pay for her gabapentin.

She’s confused about being back at the shelter.  She sleeps a lot and is quiet, calm and gentle.  She is great with kids.  While she is good with cats and most dogs, big dogs frighten her.  The only time she barks, is when she has to go potty.

The workers at the shelter say that she is a deeply loving, tender dog who deserves much better than she’s received. Hershey weighs 25 lbs.  She’s housetrained, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm-negative. Her adoption fee is only $35.

The shelter is full and it’s always hard for the older dogs to compete for the few homes that show up to adopt.  The need to adopt her is URGENT.

The Aiken County Animal Shelter is located at 333 Wire Road, in Aiken. If you would like to arrange to meet Hershey, send an e-mail to info@fotasaiken.org.  Also, walk-ins are welcomed from 11am-4pm everyday but Sunday.
