Missing Woman Found Dead at Augusta Park
A missing woman was found dead Tuesday at Pendleton King Park in Augusta.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said the body of 43-year-old Quanda Ball of Grasmere Drive in Augusta was found in a vehicle at the park. She was pronounced dead at 5:20 pm.
An autopsy has been scheduled.
Ball was reported missing to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office 5 days earlier on May 16.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is treating this as a suspicious death, but no other information has been released yet.
Another Death Reported at Pendleton King Park Tuesday
The missing woman was found hours after investigators had been at Pendleton King Park where the body of the suspect in a murder-suicide earlier in the day was found.
The body of 45-year-old Michael Brooks was found in a vehicle at the park, shortly after he allegedly gunned down his former wife, Lashonda Wilkerson, on Druid Park Avenue.
Wilkerson died at the scene.
Deputies found Brooks’ car within miles of the crime scene, at Pendleton King Park. When they approached the vehicle, they found Brooks dead inside, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Autopsies have been scheduled on both bodies.
It’s not known what prompted the deadly shooting.
Investigators also say there does not appear to be a connection between Tuesday’s incident and the discovery of Ball’s body today.
