The victim of Tuesday's murder-suicide on Druid Park Avenue has been identified.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says 45-year-old Lashonda Wilkerson of Irongate Drive in Hephzibah was shot at least one time and was pronounced dead at 1:50 pm. An autopsy has been scheduled.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at Druid Park Avenue and Walton Way where they found a woman who had been shot at least one time. She was later identified as Lashonda Wilkerson.

At 2:35 pm, deputies spotted the suspect's vehicle at Pendleton King Park with a male behind the wheel.

Bowen said 45-year-old Michael Brooks of George Road in Augusta was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

An autopsy has been scheduled.

The motive for the shootings has not been released yet.

"The investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time," according to a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
