Deadly Shooting in Graniteville Under Investigation
A deadly shooting in Graniteville early this morning in under investigation.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 2:40 am and told a black male was taken to Wellstar MCG with at least one gunshot wound. Coroner Darryl Ables says 23-year-old Richard Carroll died as a result of his injuries.
Investigators say the shooting reportedly happened at the intersection of Sage Creek Boulevard and Bettis Academy Road.
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is asking the community for any information that could help with the investigation.

Another Deadly Shooting in the Area this Week
A deadly shooting was reported three days ago in Augusta on Kingsgate Drive in Augusta that remains unsolved.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office found 46-year-old Travis Beard with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Wellstar MCG where he died a short time later.
Investigators say this is an active investigation and haven’t released any other information about the shooting yet.
