Deadly Shooting This Morning on Kingsgate Drive in Augusta: Victim Identified
A deadly shooting around 4 am today is under investigation in Richmond County.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of shots fired in the 3700 block of Kingsgate Drive.
Deputies found one male victim who had been shot at least one time. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment where he later died.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen identified the victim as 46-year-old Travis Beard of the 3700 block of Kingsgate Drive. Beard was pronounced dead at 5:02 am.
An autopsy will be scheduled.
Authorities said this is an active investigation and no other information is being released yet.
