Broadway in Columbia County Season Announced for Performing Arts Center
The Broadway in Columbia County 2024-2025 season has been announced with a wide variety of shows that offer something for everybody!
Shows are performed at the Columbia County Performing Arts Center, the anchor of The Plaza in Evans. The 85,000 square foot facility, with 2,062 seats, opened in 2021. The five-show 2024-2025 Broadway in Columbia County series kicks off in October.
The 2024-2025 Broadway in Columbia County Series:
- Shrek-The Musical (October 4, 2024)–Based on the hit DreamWorks animated film, Shrek The Musical is a hilarious fairy tale adventure with a cast of vibrant characters and a “shrek-tacular” score that’s perfect for the young and young-at-heart Our unlikely hero finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and the feisty Princess Fiona who resists her rescue. Throw in a short-tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is Shrek. It’s not easy being green, but this irreverently fun musical proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre!
- Hadestown (December 2, 2024)–Welcome to Hadestown, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated sing-songwriter Anais Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin is a love story for today, and always.
- Riverdance 30-The New Generation (February 14, 2025)–Since Riverdance first emerged onto the world stage, its fusion of Irish and international dance and music has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. The Grammy award-winning music and the infectious energy of its mesmerizing choreography and breathtaking performances has left audiences in awe and established Riverdance as a global cultural sensation. To celebrate the 30 year milestone, Riverdance will embark on a special anniversary tour, bringing its magic to audiences around the world. This spectacular production rejuvenates the much-loved original show with new innovative choreography and costumes and state of the art lighting, projection and motion graphics. For the first time, Riverdance welcomes “The New Generation” of performers, all of whom were not born when the show began 30 years ago.
- Pretty Woman The Musical (April 24, 2025)–Based on one of Hollywood’s most beloved romantic stories of all time, springs to life with a powerhouse creative team led by two-time Tony Award winning director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, and a book by the movie’s legendary director Garry Marshall and screenwriter J.F. Lawton.
- Chicago The Musical (May 14, 2025)–It’s still the one musical with everything that makes Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal tale of fame, fortune, and all that jazz, with one show stopping song after another and the most astonishing dancing you’ve ever seen. There’s never been a better time to experience CHICAGO, Broadway’s razzle-dazzle smash. The hit musical is the recipient of 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and thousands of standing ovations.
