Woman Took a Wallet at Publix and Racks Up Charges
A woman took a wallet at Publix on Washington Road in Augusta on April 12 and is now wanted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The male victim didn’t realize his wallet was gone until he tried to make a purchase at Texas Roadhouse later that afternoon. He told deputies he went outside to see if he had dropped the wallet on his way into the restaurant, but didn’t find it.
The victim said he got a notification a short time later that a purchase of $506.95 on his credit card at Publix had been declined. A second transaction of $512.18 was also declined.
The victim told deputies that in addition to credit cards, his wallet also contained $600 in cash as well as his Government ID.
The woman who took the wallet is now wanted in connection with the incident. Surveillance pictures from the store have been released.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says she’s wanted for Theft of Lost Property and Financial Transaction Card Fraud.
