The teen killed in a single vehicle wreck early this morning on Twiggs Street in Augusta has been identified.

Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says 17-year-old Jermaine Omar Odom of Richmond Hill Road was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to Twiggs Street and Laney Walker Boulevard at 5:30 am to a report of an accident with injuries.

When they arrived, deputies found two juveniles in the car.   In addition to Odom, the passenger in the car, whose name has not been released, was injured and was taken to Wellstar MCG.  The teen's condition has not been released.

The Richmond County STAR Team is investigating.  Initial reports indicate Odom lost control while traveling at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree.

Twiggs Street between Laney Walker Boulevard and Wrightsboro Road was completely blocked off while emergency crews were on the scene.
